Sourcing a strong senior hire for an urgent strategic opening

    LOCATION: Germany

    TYPE: Permanent

    THE COMPANY:

Yondr Group is a private equity-backed global data centre and operator with a unique cradle-to-grave business model that’s focussed on client needs.

The company helps growing businesses to meet their data centre capacity and technical real estate needs and is based in strategic locations across the world where it identifies sites then builds and operates assets, with a high value placed on HSE, sustainability and security.

    THE CHALLENGE:

Yondr had existing projects live in two major cities, with a view to growing their pipeline. Yondr’s previous Project Director in Germany had shepherded one of these projects through its early stages but had been forced to move on due to family reasons during a critical phase of the project.

As a result, Yondr urgently needed to hire an experienced Project Director as Country Lead for Germany. The new Project Director would take charge of the project and provide clarity on the strategic direction of Yondr’s German and European platform.

Although Yondr has a strong internal recruitment function, Germany was seen as a challenging market in which to recruit senior professionals with technical expertise in data centres.

    THE ROLE:

An experienced Project Director who would be Country Lead for Germany and would be able to assume control of an important project at a critical phase.

    THE SERVICE:

Aylin White’s senior leaders partnered with the hiring team and led a discovery workshop to ensure that they fully understood Yondr’s requirements. After completing a thorough deep-dive into the company, the upcoming projects and the remit of the role, the team agreed on a suitable search strategy.

The campaign would two-fold leveraging Aylin White’s existing network whilst also proactively gathering intelligence into the target cities, the wider German market and other local and international candidates with the required domestic experience.

This process identified several close matches, who we then approached. After discussing the opportunity with our targets, we arranged meetings to continue the conversation about the role and its specific mandate in more detail.

    THE RESULT:

After discussing the role requirements with a select number of interested parties, we were able to identify and secure an outstanding professional with longstanding experience and expertise.

This professional was a leader within an international data infrastructure firm. Since being hired by Yondr they have added important managerial and executive ballast to the team and are also an excellent fit with the firm’s culture.

Following this successful hire, Aylin White continues to work with the Yondr Group’s international leadership team.
