Senior Sustainability Consultant

Salary: £65,000 – £70,000

Location: Oxford and London

Hybrid Working

Our client is an ambitious practice of building services consultants with offices in Oxford, London, Manchester, and Cambridge. Their services include a wide range of mechanical and electrical engineering solutions including lighting design, sustainability, building physics and Passivhaus. They specialise in maximising the efficiency of buildings, through optimising fabric with efficient mechanical and electrical design solutions. Their main market sectors are, Heritage and Conservation, Rail and Transport Infrastructure, Education, Commercial and Private Developments, Healthcare, Hospitality, Public and Community.

The opportunity

Due to their continued growth, they are currently looking for a Senior/Principal Sustainability Engineer/Energy Assessor to join our Oxford team but have also got availability in their London office. The role is hybrid working with up to 50% of the working month working from home and the rest in the office.

They are looking for an enthusiastic client facing individual who will work within a multi discipline team of engineers on small and large projects, being able to communicate well with colleagues, design team and sub consultants would be required. Ideally already working at Senior/Principal level wanting to take that next step in their career.

Role Responsibilities

You will be working closely with other team members seeing projects through from inception to completion and handover.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Leading project surveys
  • Feasibility studies
  • Project design
  • Specifications
  • On-site supervision
  • Contract administration.
  • Management of sustainable services installations
  • Mentor, train and raise up Sustainability team members.
  • Undertake site visits and audits in support of the Sustainability team
  • Draft, review and issue reports, contractual documentation, calculations, technical reports, presentations and action lists.
  • Carry out independent research to support sustainability appointments.
  • Act as a sustainability leader for design projects, bids and tender preparation and co-ordination with wider bidding and design teams.

Essential:

  • A degree in a relevant subject in engineering or an environmental discipline
  • Minimum 3-5 years relevant experience in building services design
  • Experience in managing and mentoring junior team members.
  • Residential and education projects form a major part of their portfolio and a good backlog of knowledge of new regulations including Part L and Part O would be preferred together with DFE standards.
  • Working knowledge of IES Software, Level 5 Energy Assessor and knowledge of SAP10 and Net zero requirements
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Accurate, good organisational, and prioritisation skills
  • Own transport and driving license.
  • Competent in using Microsoft Office
  • Design and modelling software, previous experience (full training will be provided)
