We have been retained by a boutique MEP consultancy to hire a new MEP Director for their London office. This opportunity lends itself to a Mechanically-biased Associate Director, Technical Director or an Associate Mechanical Engineer to move into the role of Director at this Building Services Consulting Firm.

THE COMPANY

A firm of Building Services Consulting Engineers, founded in 1998 with a real focus on delivering excellence and quality to their clients

  • Working with FTSE 250 clients, this firm specialises in commercial fit out and Government projects, clients and are also on national frameworks providing M&E Design, dilapidation and condition surveys and reporting particularly in line with the decarbonisation of building stock and hitting the 2030 agenda.
  • The main focus of their project work is prime residential
  • The company employs 27 people in total and has an office in Manchester, London, and the Isle of Man. The London office currently employs 4 people.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE MEP DIRECTOR

  • The Director will participate in going to site and overseeing the work in progress and communicating with the client
  • To manage the team in the London office
  • The Director will be responsible for growing the London office in both turnover and staff numbers
  • To develop existing relationships with clients in order to secure future project wins
  • Fee proposals
  • The Director will be responsible for hands-on participation in RIBA stages 1-2, and will hand the project back over to the client in Stage 5, in conjunction with further developing client relationships

SKILLS AND BACKGROUND OF THE MEP DIRECTOR

  • Chartered through CIBSE or IMechE with at least fifteen years of consultancy design experience
  • Experienced in dealing with and developing clients and delivering projects
  • Can brief up to stage 3 from an overall MEP perspective and can lead and deliver projects up to stage 5 mechanically
  • Probably at Senior Associate or AD level (depending on where they work) with a variety of project experience
  • Someone who is looking to be proactive in developing the company in both turnover and staff size
  • Hands-on in RIBA stages 1-2, stages 3-4 (detailed design) completed by the team, stage 5 back involved to hand over the project and develop client relationship secure future work.
  • Proven track record in fee proposals and managing teams up to 10.
