Due to inter-organizational promotions, our client is looking for a Principal Electrical Design Engineer to join their commercial team based in London. The opportunity is with a well-established M&E consultancy, who are looking for a Principal Engineer with excellent communication skills and a high technical level, to act as the direct link between clients and the Electrical team.

Our client is one of the largest leading Data Centre consultancies in Northern Europe, and by joining the commercial team, Engineers have the opportunity to progress into other teams within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• The Principal Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for the project lead of medium size projects.
• The Principal Electrical Engineer will undertake a client facing role in the development, design, and coordination of engineering project services for electrical installations, systems, equipment, facilities etc.
• The Principal Electrical Design Engineer’s day to day will involve decision making on project progress and direct liaison/providing advice to client.
• The Principal Electrical Design Engineer will represent the company at technical meetings with customers, professional teams and contractors’ teams.
• The Principal Electrical Design Engineer will carry out engineering calculations to ensure drawings meet required industry and legal standards.
• The Principal Electrical Design Engineer will be mentoring junior staff and team members whilst working alongside Principal and Associate Engineers.
• Validation, checking of designs and specifications.
• Managing and forecasting fee spend ensuring that work is kept to budget.
• The Principal Electrical Design Engineer is to develop and maintain relationships with new and existing clients.

Role Requirements:

• Qualified to Meng, BEng Degree level or equivalent in either electrical engineering or building services engineering.
• The Principal Electrical Design Engineer is to have experience working on UK based commercial office projects/high end projects.
• The Principal Electrical Design Engineer will either (preferably) have achieved or working towards Chartered Eng status.
• The Principal Electrical Design Engineer will be competent in specification design/drawing for several building types.
• The Principal Electrical Design Engineer will be capable of presenting engineering concepts to clients and other project stakeholders.
• The Principal Electrical Design Engineer will have a strong understanding of industry design guidelines
• Ability to use Amtech and Dialux.
• Ability to liaise & coordinate with the other services disciplines.
