Electrical Technical Director
Aylin White has been retained by a well-established and growing engineering consultancy that specialises in rail projects. Due to an increase in project wins and in line with a pre-existing growth plan, they are looking for a Technical Director with experience working within the rail industry to join the growing team of a respectable engineering consultancy.
THE COMPANY
- A well-established engineering consultancy working mostly within the rail space, and expanding into other mission critical sectors.
- The company currently has 5 offices in the UK and abroad, and are currently going through an exciting expansion plan.
- The company is industry-recognised and are working on some of the largest railway frameworks taking place in the UK.
THE ROLE
- The Electrical Technical Director will provide technical leadership and guidance to project teams. This will involve reviewing and approving technical designs, making decisions on technology selection, and ensuring that technical standards are maintained.
- The Electrical Technical Director will lead and manage the MEP design team within the company. This involves mentoring staff and fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- The Electrical Technical Director will be responsible for ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet the specified technical requirements.
- The Electrical Technical Director will ensure that the work produced by the MEP team meets high-quality standards. This includes reviewing technical documentation, designs, and other deliverables.
- The Electrical Technical Director will address technical challenges and issues that may arise during the course of a project, provide guidance and solutions to keep the project on track.
- The Electrical Technical Director will identify and manage technical risks associated with projects. This may involve developing risk mitigation strategies and ensuring that projects are on track to meet technical milestones.
- The Electrical Technical Director will stay up-to-date with industry regulations and standards related to rail projects. Ensure that all technical aspects of projects comply with relevant regulations.
- The Electrical Technical Director will encourage and support innovation within the technical teams. Look for ways to improve processes and methodologies to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of project delivery.
SKILLS AND BACKGROUND
- Educated to degree level in Electrical or Building Services Engineering. Ideally be a Chartered Engineer.
- Have experience in hands-on design and have worked within a managerial position, leading all MEP aspects of design.
- Have experience working within the rail industry, or any other mission critical sector (e.g., data centres, maritime, utilities).
- Familiarity with UK codes and practices.
- Demonstrable technical proficiency and innovative design skills.
- Skills in team leadership and the professional development of others.
- Good technical understanding of electrical building services for different sectors along with a knowledge of the other disciplines in building services, i.e. mechanical.
