We are representing one of the best M&E contractors in London, both by standard of work and how they treat their staff. Turning over 250m per year, concentrating within the M25, however have other projects in London, the Southeast and Europe. They have a long list of major buildings they have installed and are now becoming a force in data centres. A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well-known and respected market leading contractor. With projects from Commercial, Data Centres, Retail and Pharmaceutical Laboratories etc, there is opportunity to work on multi-million-pound projects which cover the full range of services and distribution systems required for a wide range of varied building solutions.

ROLE / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The Principal Mechanical Design Engineer will be working on various types of projects in an array of sectors. The need to have sector knowledge is important.
  • The Principal Mechanical Design Engineer will have extensive experience in the Commercial sector and will have around 4/5+ worth of experience in the built environment.
  • The Principal Mechanical Design Engineer will need to be a team player, from helping juniors/graduates in their journey of growth, you will help peer review consultancies drawings and value engineer on drawings, focusing on the purely mechanical aspects.
  • Ensuring the mechanical team is suitably resourced for planned objectives and all personnel are suitably equipped for the and that all aspects of engineering within the mechanical discipline have been carried to an acceptable standard.
  • The Principal Mechanical Design Engineer will need have experience working on various projects in different stages from stages 3, 4 and 5.
  • The Principal Mechanical Design Engineer will need to be able to effectively liaise with clients and stakeholders to manage expectations whilst maintain and building new relationships for the company.
  • The Principal Mechanical Design Engineer will need to think creatively and logically to resolve design and development problems whilst identifying risks in the workplace and design work, whilst also considering the designs environmental, commercial, safety, and operational aspects.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • The Principal Mechanical Design Engineer will have experience in using recognised design software tools such as REVIT and ideally have exposure to Hevacomp.
  • Have recognised qualifications in Mechanical services design and either be working towards Chartered Status or have an interest in doing so.
  • The Principal Mechanical Design Engineer will need to understand project needs and be able to manage the full delivery.
  • The Principal Mechanical Design Engineer will be able to work both autonomously and as part of a team in support to deliver projects.
  • The Principal Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have 5+ years of experience in a building services background, with experience ranging in sectors.
